There’s Only One Lancashire Eccles Cake
Lancashire Eccles Cakes has launched its first new product for more than 30 years. Fans of the hand-made Eccles Cake need not worry though, all it means is that the traditional tea-time treat is now available in single packs.
Aimed at the growing 'eat on the go’ category, the new single serving packs also contain cakes that are bigger than those in the four-packs. It will also allow the company to move into the food service sector for the first time and serve the vending, travel, catering and lunch box markets.
Lancashire Eccles Cakes is recommending that the new line is displayed away from the cake fixture and placed in sandwich areas or on counter tops near tills.
Wayne Pritchard, National Account Manager for the Manchester based company, said: “The Food Service sector demands a single pack product and we feel that by introducing the single to this market we are not only allowing our customers to buy our product in new areas we are able to tap in to new customers and introduce them to the succulent taste of the Real Lancashire Eccles Cake.”
